SEP 25-27 : NextProf Workshop

The University of Michigan College of Engineering has recently established an annual future faculty development workshop for potential women and underrepresented minority faculty members.  The first NextProf Workshop in 2012 had a focus on underrepresented minorities.  Fifty-three high-potential Ph.D.s, postdocs and Ph.D. students attended, and met with more than 30 current faculty members from Michigan and elsewhere.  Participants rated the event extremely favorably.

This year the workshop will be held on September 25-27, 2013 in Ann Arbor, MI, with a focus on future women faculty candidates.  We are planning to invite 75 women who are advanced Ph.D. students and recent Ph.D. graduates.

They are seeking the very best senior doctoral candidates, postdocs and recent graduates meeting the following eligibility criteria:

· Participants must be an advanced (at least 2nd year completed) doctoral student, postdoc or recent Ph.D. graduate in engineering and science; and

· Participants must be interested in an academic career in engineering and science at an exceptional research or teaching institution.

All travel (domestic) and lodging expenses will be paid for the selected participants.

For more details and to nominate someone, please visit the website:

The deadline for all application materials to be received is June 3, 2013.
