Article: Jesse Neufeld, The Submariner

Vancouver 24 hrs has named Jesse Neufeld as one of their “Top 24 Under 24″.

“University of B.C. student Jesse Neufeld chose civil engineering because he was fascinated by how “behind-the-scenes” innovation touches our everyday lives.  Last month, he was on the winning team at the Shell International Engineering Competition — for designing a human-powered submarine.

“You race them under water,” Neufeld said. “To put it in perspective, an Average Joe can hop in and go faster than Michael Phelps without training — to beat the fastest swimmer ever.”
