Article: Tech sector still struggles with gender diversity, says key is to involve girls

WWEST’s partner, GIRLsmarts was featured in this article which discusses the lack of women in tech industries and how to increase girls’ interest in these industries. GIRLsmarts is a collaborative effort between SAP Labs and the University of British Columbia aimed at getting seventh grade girls excited about science and technology.

Researchers have found that although diversity in a group of people can make it more difficult to achieve group cohesion, there are beneficial effects from friction within a group, like promoting thought outside people’s own perspectives. Click here for the full article.
