Mothers of Invention explores the origins of inventions, objects and ideas of women going far back in history, from around the world, Canada and the Greater Vancouver area. From healers and homemakers to designers and engineers, discover the stories and process of how inspiration and novel ideas have turned into reality.
The inventions cover a great variety of areas including art, clothing and textiles, medicine, mathematics, engineering, science, the environment, healing, food, cleaning products, personal and child care. A collection of common and unusual tools, equipment, household items, novelties and personal gear is selected to show a variety of technologies. The Kids’ Corner features “The Inventor’s Challenge”, where kids can think creatively to help solve the chair design puzzle and construct a beautiful lantern from a piece of paper.
