The Faculty of Applied Science’s School of Engineering at UBC’s Okanagan campus has assembled world-class faculty and developed an innovative engineering curriculum to offer undergraduate and graduate engineering degrees in Civil, Mechanical and Electrical specializations.  The campus is situated in one of the most scenic and appealing regions in Canada and offers faculty and students an intimate learning environment and exciting opportunities for interdisciplinary and region-centred research. The School of Engineering will occupy its new state-of-the-art building in 2011.

The School of Engineering invites outstanding individuals to apply for tenure-track and/or tenured positions at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor ranks (preference will be given to applicants suitable for appointment at the Full Professor rank) in any discipline of Engineering with a strong focus on sustainability, including but not limited to: advanced alloy surface technologies, bio-fluid mechanics, construction, geotechnical/environmental, infrastructure management, integrated optics, lean manufacturing, lifecycle management, micro-fluidics, nano-technology, power systems/electronics, renewable energy, road safety, seismic risk, semi-conductors, smart grids, smart materials, smart structures, system on chip, textile composites, transportation, waste minimization, water resources, and/or wireless communications.

Applicants must have strong records demonstrating outstanding research or research potential, as well as a commitment to quality teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. All candidates should either have, or be eligible to pursue, registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia. The successful candidate will be fully engaged with the Okanagan Sustainability Institute.

Candidate assessment and interviews will begin immediately after the closing date with position start dates of July 2011 or thereafter.  To submit your application, email your application materials (Curriculum Vitae, Statement of Teaching Philosophy, Research Plan, List of three Referees) to the School of Engineering at recruitment.apsc@ubc.ca.  All applications will be reviewed; however, hiring will be subject to approval from the UBC Board of Governors.
