Industry and Academic Mentors: Share your experiences with UBC’s Engineering Mentoring Program!

Applications for Mentors due September 16th, 2011

The Engineering Mentoring Program provides students with the opportunity to connect with industry professionals and fosters the development of skills that they will need to help them in their engineering career. The Program brings together a professional working in industry as the senior mentor, a senior undergraduate or graduate student, and a first- or second-year student in a tri-mentoring format. Mentors are matched with students that share similar career interests or specializations.

Students and professionals alike find a support network amongst their colleagues and those who have gone before, resulting in a more committed and knowledgeable profession. The Program provides participants with a structured relationship from which to learn, access to UBC support for mentoring/career coaching, three program-wide events to connect with all participants, and ongoing alumni resources.

As a participant in the program, your activities are encouraged and recognized by APEGBC as a contribution towards your professional development and that of the profession. Time commitment for mentors is roughly 15 hours, including three events from October through March – opening and closing receptions and an engineering industry networking event.

The program is currently accepting applications from industry/academic mentors – deadline for submission is September 16th, 2011.
