Why Getting Women Into STEM Matters

“Why is it so crucial to get women into math and science? A recent White House report suggests that the bias that women are not as good as men in science keeps elementary school-age girls from advancing in the field, which in turn leads to a lack of women in STEM fields. The report also shows that women in STEM earn roughly 14% less than men.

STEM is projected to grow about 20% in the next 10 years. If we want women to be part of the growth, we need to make sure they are exposed to and succeed in STEM. ”
