May 21: Effective Communication – A Workshop for Women in SETT

The WinSETT Centre, with support from the NSERC Chairs for Women in Science and Engineering National Network, is offering a special pre-CCWESTT Conference workshop:

When:  May 21, 8:30 am – 4:40 pm
Where:  Ramada Plaza Hotel, Regina
Cost:   $190 – covers participant materials, breakfast, luncheon and nutrition breaks

Communicating effectively in the workplace is an essential competency in exchanging information with clarity, understanding and strengthening relationships, promoting your ideas and solutions, and advancing your career success.

This full day workshop is specifically designed for women in the early to midpoint of their technical careers. Senior post-secondary students and senior professionals would also find benefit. The event focuses on improving workplace communication skills through experience-based learning.

Designed for 16 to 25 participants and led by professional facilitators, you will:

  • Become aware of different styles of communication
  • Assess your own communication style, strengths and challenges
  • Learn from the research on gender factors affecting communication
  • Formulate and practice strategic self-promotion
  • Build skills through guided role-play exercises and practice in a supportive environment
  • Benefit from the strategies and tips from female leaders in the sector and from other participants

 

Registration is on a first come, first served basis.
