Article: Engineering and business administration grads top earners

StatsCan followed 15,000 Canadians over 20 years to see who did best financially. Those who graduated with an engineering degree earned some of the highest wages, but there is an extreme gender wage gap in the results of the study. By 2010, men who graduated with an engineering degree earned a median of $105,300 annually, while women with an engineering degree earned a median of only $56,400. This wage gap could be partially due to these female graduates finding employment in fields other than engineering. The study looked only at the subjects’ education, rather than the field in which they are actually employed.
