WWEST presents at several outreach events for high school students each year. These range from school visits, lab tours, to panels and informal presentations.
Recent events include the 2012 UBC Go Eng Girl! Conference for high school students, where WWEST presented and provided student and industry mentors for the day, and the annual UBC Engineering Open House where WWEST hosted a lunch and informal panel for incoming female university students and senior high school students.
In 2013 Dr. Croft was the keynote speaker for Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day with the Richmond School Board, and led tour of her lab, and spoke at UBC’s Engineering Student Services’ Lunch for High School Girls.
By making partnership a cornerstone of our outreach strategy, we have been able to maximize our impact, share our expertise and best practices in a very personal and practical way, and build capacity in our region to continue developing and holding events to support women in SET after the end of our mandate.
Interested in having us present at your school? Invite us to speak.
