A great opportunity for three interested and qualified students to participate in a project with The Aids Support Organization (TASO) in Uganda, through Go Global. There is funding available for three students to move the Sustainable Livelihoods project forward in Term 2 (Jan-May). The intent of this multi-year project is to create an integrated sustainable livelihood program, to compliment the more clinical work that has been TASO’s main focus. As a brief update, the first phase of the project (May-Aug 2012) has been a great success. The four interns who spent the summer in Uganda conducted a scan of existing sustainable livelihoods programs in the various TASO centres across the country, and created a clear document outlining the current status of the programs. The interns, in collaboration with TASO staff, identified a way forward – towards creating a resourced and effective program that would further support clients infected and affected by HIV/AIDS to achieve self-sufficiency and thrive.
