Ms Infinity’s eMentoring Program now recruiting students

Ms infinity is now recruiting students for the Fall 2010 session of our eMentoring program! The sole mandate of ms infinity, a program of the Society of Canadian Women in Science and Technology, is to encourage girls to pursue science, engineering, trades and technology as viable career options, and our eMentoring program is one way in which they accomplish that.

The email-based mentoring program partners senior high school girls with a woman scientist or engineer for 8 weeks of engaging discussion. They send out a question each week to prompt discussion between the mentor and mentee about how they came to pursue that career, the education they required, how they balance work and family life, etc. The time commitment is quite minimal at no more than an hour per week, and all that is required is access to an email account. New this session, they will offer the optional opportunity for students to ‘meet’ their mentor via Skype.

The next session of eMentoring is set to begin October 18, 2010. The program participation guidelines, application form, and parental permission form can all be downloaded from their blog, and the application deadline is Wednesday Oct 13.
