Mar 18 – ms infinity eMentoring Program Student Application Deadline

Ms Infinity eMentoring Program

ms infinity is now recruiting students for the Spring 2011 session of our eMentoring program! The sole mandate of ms infinity, a program of the Society for Canadian Women in Science and Technology, is to encourage girls to pursue science, engineering, trades and technology as viable career options, and our eMentoring program is one way in which we accomplish that.

Our email-based mentoring program partners senior high school girls with a woman scientist or engineer for 10 weeks of engaging discussion. The coordinator sends out a question each week to prompt discussion between the mentor and mentee about how they came to pursue that career, the education they required, how they balance work and family life, etc. The time commitment is quite minimal at no more than an hour per week, and all that is required is access to an email account. Again this session, we will offer the optional opportunity for students to ‘meet’ their mentor via Skype.

The next session of eMentoring is set to begin on April 4. The program participation guidelines, application form, and parental permission form can all be downloaded from the blog at http://msinfinityblog.blogspot.com/2011/03/spring-ementoring-program-now.html, and the application deadline is next Friday March 18.
