Article: The soft side of engineers

Business Vancouver writes about the importance of soft skills in the engineering profession, including communications, project management, and business acumen, and the role that Young Professional Forum (YPF) is taking to prepare young engineers for the new roles taken by engineers. Quoted in the article, Selena Wilson, a professional engineer and transportation consultant with McElhanney Consulting Services, says, “Every engineer is a little surprised by the skills needed for success, particularly the need for strong writing skills,” said Wilson. “Most engineers don’t particularly enjoy writing, but the further you go in your career, the more writing and communications you do.”
