May 13 to 15 – WIE UBC/WEG Weekend Trip to Boeing Aviation Centre and Factory

The Women in Engineering Group (WEG) at SFU is planning a weekend trip to the Boeing Aviation Centre and Factory for May 13-15, 2011, and UBC Women in Engineering (WIE) would like to make this a collaborative trip between WIE and WEG.

The trip will include a tour of the Boeing Aviation Centre and Factor as well as free time to explore downtown Seattle.  Transportation to and from Seattle will be provided by a private charter bus company, and two nights of shared hotel will be included in the cost of the trip.  The trip is open to both graduate and undergraduate students, but, as a WEG/WIE trip, this will be a female-only trip to encourage support and networking between women from SFU and UBC.  The details of the trip costs are still being finalized, but we are estimating a cost of approximately $180/student, assuming that we have sufficient interest. Please see the PDF for further details, including a tentative trip schedule.

Anyone interested in joining in on this trip should contact Samantha Grist at sgrist@ece.ubc.ca by Friday March 25, 2011 to ensure that there will be sufficient interest to make the trip feasible. SFU WEG requires a deposit by March 31, 2011 to secure a place on the trip, and full fee payment must be completed by April 4, 2011.  Any questions about the
trip can also be sent to sgrist@ece.ubc.ca.
