Newsletter: BC Mining HR Task Force, Diversity-Women Subcommittee

The BC Mining HR Task Force Diversity-Women sub-committee, recently released their second newsletter.

The focus of the Task Force is to foster the supply and retention of a diverse workforce in the face of significant labour shortages predicted over the next ten years.

Women comprise only 16% of the exploration and mining workforce in BC, and only 5% in the non-traditional operational areas such as trades and equipment operation. The Diversity-Women sub-committee published a report on these findings in 2011, WOMEN: An Unmined Resource, and continue to work on initiatives that will increase the attraction, recruitment and retention of women in mining.
