Call for Research Participants: Mother to daughter – Women in STEM

Prof. Donatille Mujawamariya and Prof. Catherine Mavriplis (NSERC CWSE Chairholder for Ontario) invite you to participate in a research study called “Mother to Daughter – Women in STEM”.

Participants will be interviewed about how their mother influenced (or did not influence) their decision to work or study in STEM. They will be interviewing 16 female professionals and 16 female students in STEM.

Many studies indicate the importance of the parents’ roles in the career choices of their children, but very few have pinpointed the influence of the mother in the career choice of her daughter(s). The participation rate of girls and women interested in studies and/or careers in STEM has not increased in recent years. A better knowledge and understanding of that specific influence could allow defining strategies that may change this trend.

If you are interested in participating, please contact Michelle Boucher, R.A. to let her know of your interest by e-mail: mbouc116@uottawa.ca. Please indicate your interest in participating by Monday, August 12, 2013.

The invitation letter for this study can be viewed here.
